Add Color to Your Bathroom Without Overwhelm

When it comes to a bathroom, where all the finishes are fixed (think tile, plumbing fixtures, lighting) and not easily changed, you may be nervous about adding color. Here are some ideas to remedy that fear!

1.Add Color With Accessories

This is probably the lowest commitment of any suggestion out there. If you want to add color, but you’re afraid you’ll get tired of it after awhile, consider adding color with your art and towels. This is so simple, and if you ever decide you are tired of the color, swap it out! You can keep your fixed finishes more timeless so your bath remodel stays relevant for years.

2. Paint Your Walls

Paint is one of the easiest ways to introduce color without much commitment. If you decide you don’t like the color, you can always repaint without remodeling the entire room! We’ve painted bathrooms black, we have painted them blue - there’s so many options with paint! You could also opt to wallpaper, but that does require more prep work and it’s a bit more commitment. Removing/changing wallpaper down the road is nowhere near as easy as repainting.

3. Pick One Element

If you’re worried about overwhelm with color, just commit to one item. Let’s say for example you like blue. Consider either a blue shower wall subway tile (subway tile is timeless) or even a painted blue vanity cabinet. By doing one or the other, you’re still incorporating a color that you love and enjoy but you aren’t overwhelming the space with it.

So we have three ways to incorporate color into your bathroom without overwhelm. With your accessories, by painting your walls, or by selecting one element in the room to commit to the color you love. Which idea resonates most for you?
